Anyone not care if they ever get better?

I guess if you keep playing you'll get better, but I basically almost never "practice" and when I do it's more at songwriting. I'm by no means a great player... Adequate, at best... I know no theory, and I don't generally try to learn other people's songs. And I don't want to! I'm completely content with where I'm at right now. Anyone else in the same boat? It just seems like most of the folks around here are always talking about practice and learning songs and getting better all the time.

If you're happy where you are then why look for reasons to be unhappy with yourself? Enjoy what you're doing and let it be.

I'm sure most people here actually do want to get better, including me (I'm taking lessons), so I'm sure you're in the minority. But why should I let it bother me if you're happy where you are and you want to stay there? I'm doing my thing, you're doing yours.

Hope that didn't sound sarcastic, because it wasn't meant to be.

Yeah, I suck, I know that. But at least I suck a little less than I did yesterday.

Part of the craft is getting better.

There's nothing wrong with being content where you are but most of us enjoy progressing

I'm sort of 50/50 on it.
My knowledge of theory isn't what i'd call advanced, but it's very functional. I'm done practicing scales rigorously and learning chords.

My 'practice' now just consists of me playing whatever the hell I feel like playing. My ear is getting better and better, I just want to be able to get what's in my head to come out of my hands

Yeah, this is what I do almost all of the time when I'm not playing with the band. Like I said, simply playing will always make you better... I just don't "practice" anymore.
