Anyone seen a recent BB King show?

He's doing a show in Eugene in March. I'm very tempted to go. I wonder though if at age 87 he can still do a good show. You know what I mean. No disrespect intended, the man is a music legend. It would be worth it just to see him on stage in person...

I saw his show in Palo Alto circa 1997 or 98. It was pretty campy. I was very disappointed. Maybe it's improved since then?

At this point in time, B's legendary status is secure. You're paying to see the legend and not to expect anything groundbreaking.

My wife has never seen him and wants to go to his upcoming Nashville show. Price is high, but we may go. I've seen him many times through the years and don't expect Live At The Regal, but it is what it is.

BTW, not sure who it is, but his current bass player sounds good on recent live shows I'ved heard.

Saw him at one of the casino's here couple of years ago and it was a dud wish he would of cut the band lose a bit because they were slammin'. other than that he told stories mostly about Viagra.

He's still got it. Sits and plays and talks. Sounds great. Close your eyes and dig that iconic voice.

What atomic said. His playing is whatever. But his vocals at 87 are strong as ever! I saw him a year or so ago and the band was pretty good. He was funny as crap. And again his voice was strong. But you need to be able to say you saw him at least once.

He came here three months ago. I didn't go because I had a gig that night. I'm kicking myself now, because how many more times will I get an opportunity to see a legend like him?

I saw him locally about five years ago. I was excited to see a legend... and left feeling pretty bland about the evening. He spent the entire time laying back on what looked like a bean bag chair in front of the rest of the band, broke off into countless stories about growing up in Mississippi, treating ladies right, getting into fights, and other nutty stories... two of my friends fell asleep! I went mostly for the "I should see this legend while he's still alive" aspect of it and definitely tried to keep in mind that he's old. I shall say no more.

Not recently, but I saw him 3 years ago at Bobby "Blue" Bland's 80th birthday celebration. B.B. didn't play his guitar. He just sat on a chair, told some stories, and sang. He was in fine voice though. Better than I expected.

Disappointing that he didn't play, but there were lots of great musicians on the bill, so it wasn't a big deal. It wasn't like it was a B.B. King concert. He was just one of many there to pay tribute to Bobby Bland.
