I use to be with this gal who listens to mostly trance and house stuff, and she would set the EQ to 'Bass reduce' all the time.
Also, a quote from her... 'usually id check out the drummers first, then the singer and the guitarist'
in other words, anyone other than the bassplayer : D
I still luv my low end though. X D |

I said he was a good bassist, I didn't say he was bright. (maybe just really horny)

Girlfrien : " If you buy another bass, I'm outa here!"
I replied : "the door is there, use it anytime you want...." while showing her my brand new Peavey G-V.... |

The Peavey G-V Bass is an awesome one!

Sometimes people just expect you to spend all of your time with them as opposed to working on a hobby/passion.
The way I see it, being with someone else is going to include some compromises, and that may include music. That being said, it's up to you as an adult to decide if it's worth it. Myself, I couldn't be with someone who didn't want me to play. If someone truly cares for you, they'll see that it makes you happy and that there's realistically no harm in it (except for financial issues in some cases for those of us who spend lots of money on it), and that'll be enough for them to be at the very least "ok" with it. If they don't share your enthusiasm, that's probably why they don't play something themselves.

How would any fan of trance, house or pretty much any electronic genre prefer the bass to be reduced? Probably moreso than any other genre, electronica is dependent on bass. Everyone I know that digs the stuff (including) boost the hell outta the bass, lol. It's dance music and people dance to the bass.

The only time I've ever really got her to hear it was one time a few months ago when we were in the car. I forget which song was on, but it had a nice bass line going on....which she couldn't hear of course. I turned the treble way down and boosted the bass to the max....she still couldn't hear it....but she felt it. After she felt it hitting the side of her leg from the speaker she was able to hear it a little.
It didn't really change much though, as I found out last week while playing with the P&W band. After service we were having dinner with our best friends, Rob and Krista, who also happen to be the guitar player/P&W leader and his wife who is the lead singer. Rob and I were talking about one particular new song that we did that day when my wife spoke up and said, "what was that weird sound at the end of the chorus during the break". The rest of us looked at each other and laughed as we all said "That was the bass". I was doing a slap/plucking line and was pretty much the only instrument other then the drums that was playing at that time. LOL I guess the good side of it is she finally actually "heard" the bass when I was playing it.

Only difference is I haven't married her yet. She even gets upset when I tell her I have to sell a bass once in a while!

Anyway, while playing through a new Fender Rumble 2x10, she was constantly telling me to turn down. She said it might be because she was so close to the amp, but she didn't like it. She better get used to it though Haha.
She thinks it's sexy when I play bass and guitar. Lol
