i have a schecter stiletto elite i bought as an early xmas present for me and as most of you know... no pickguard is on it. but i don't need it for pickstyle, i need it for slap bass. you see, when i "dig in" for the pop with my index finger my nail scratches the finish under the strings and i need something smaller to put there (much like how this product works) that can be removed easily too. before i fork over $20 for this is there anything else i can use that may be a cheaper alternative?

How about buying some blank pickguard material, sculting something attractive & using photographic spray adhesive to hold it? Should come off too.

yeah but nothing would look attractive there and i'm not necessarily an artist . a strip of that pad would already look kinda weird but it doesn't shine. someone at a local guitar shop suggested maybe window cling material. but i'm still deciding. i've never had to worry about this before because all of my basses have had large pickguards covering that area
