ARGH!! Guitar is getting more fun!

I currently play bass in 1 band, and rhythm guitar in another band.

I consider myself mainly a bass player, but recently, guitar is getting more and more interesting(still not as interesting as bass though)

What do I do!?!??!?!

I would suggest keep playing guitar. You don't exactly lose your bass playing membership or something if you pick up a guitar--in fact i think its better for musicians to know several instruments rather than just one because it forces the musician to think outside their main instrument--you know, it makes them a musician, not just a guitarist or bassist or drummer or whathaveyou

Yeah, can't see the problem. Do what you enjoy doing the most. They don't shoot people because they stopped playing bass.

I put more time in playing guitar than bass, it's not my weapon of choice, but it gets me by.

Big deal, don't worry about it. Guitar is my main instrument, and that's what I practice the most. If somebody think you shouldn't be allowed to call yourself a bassist amongst bassists because you want to spend more time practicing guitar, that's their problem.

Seriously, I think you should quit Bass all together, and send all your Bass gear, to me.

I think you should be happy that you are a multi-instrumentalist. I myself am an ARCT Pianist before becoming a bassist, as well I play gtr, percussion and sing. It works well for me in my studio, as well makes me more money in outside sessions and performances. Go with it man!, be proud of everything you do well.

Learn some guitar chords, get bigger fingers and a six string bass, tune to E A D G B E and just stick with bass.

Play guitar. There's nothing wrong with it, or playing other instruments for that matter!

I've noticed that it seems like only bass players get this kind of weird betrayal complex. It seems like guitarists and keyboardists won't think twice about picking up another instrument and don't feel like they're about to betray some secret brotherhood.

Myself, I could never limit myself to one instrument. Multi-instrumentalists like Mike Oldfield, Sting, Geddy Lee, Prince, the late Kevin Gilbert, and so on are an inspiration to me.

Quit bass if you want to even! It's your life. No one but no one should tell you what you should or shouldn't play.

I too play guitar, bass, drums, and sing as well.

It can really help you develop and integrate the respective instruments with each other since you have first hand knowledge of them. I say pursue all the instruments you want. Nothing cooler than recording a song where you played all of the instruments.

It's also nice to have one if not more people in the band who can fill in if someone is not there. I have had to play guitar and/or sing because we were missing people.
