Obvious questions aside (where are you at now, what do you wish to accomplish, etc..) we settled on something like 16th notes at 140bpm three minutes straight would be a good level.
Will he ever play a song like that? Probably not, but we were using it more as a guide. Besides, the amount of time you spend at that tempo is far more important; many of us could play 16th note passages at 140, but to do that for an extended length of time is something else entirely. |

I never heard him but the ads left me expecting that he would be some sort of amusical speed machine---I'm glad if I was wrong about that.
