Atlanta music scene

I am scheduled to relocate to Atlanta next year due to my job, and I'd like to know more about the music scene over there. I've been to Atlanta before but I wasn't a bass player back then.

Where are the venues or good live music? I'm most only interested in jazz but any good music will do. Are there lots of opportunities to gig for a bass player? Music stores you can recommend? I'm only aware of Atlanta Bass Gallery.

There's a healthy music scene in Atlanta! Lots of work, in many styles. I played lots of contemporary jazz there, as well as corporate and good paying church gigs.

Contact Russ Rogers for lessons, too!

There are two Guitar Centers as well, one in Marietta and one in Atlanta proper.

There's one in Gwinnett, too.

That Gwinnett Guitar Center will fool you. It is way bigger than it appears based on the sign outside. It looks like it is going to be just a small store, and inside it is big.

Another store worth checking out. It is more of a guitar store though. They have pretty nice guitar amps, Taylor and Martin acoustic guitars, but their effects pedal selection is usually better than typical guitar stores.

I have had some good work done here:

The Fret Shop
