Great drummer in one of the only metalish bands I enjoyed. RIP Rev.

i hate when a guy tortures himslef with drugs for periods of time and when he dies "clean" they call natural causes. leads people to believe it was just a freak accident. i think for the sake of others possibly headed down the same path they should openly acknowledge his past. i had a friend who abused steroids through high school, when he died in his dads arms of a heart attack at 24 they called it natural causes and all of his friends continue on the same drugs...could have been a wake up call for some but it was swept under the rug to save face.
i seriously feel bad for his family but i hope they openly press the issue that drugs played a roundabout role in all of this to serve others headed down this slope and not let this talented young man die in vein. this dude is my age and thats whats real sad. |

It has nothing to do with his family- whom I suspect are not frequenters of this site. It's a legitimate thing to point out on a site that has some aspiring rock stars that no matter how big you are, drugs can get you, even after you quit.

They die in car crashes, of drug overdoses, of natural causes, of cancer, and of a million other ailments and events. As much as I'd love to lift this guy's name up it just doesn't feel right with the hundreds of others getting no recognition at all. Every time I pass a funeral home I don't get out and go hug the family so I'm not going to do that on the internet either. Hopefully he wasn't dabbling in illicit substances at the time, or that will taint the legacy he should have.

This garbage does damage that stays with you forever even after you are clean! |

And yes, keep harping on the cost of living the rock-and-roll life. I know many of you don't want to hear it, but those of us who have been around have seen, or known, too many great musicians, or friends, or even brothers and sisters who have destroyed their lives through the excessive party mentality. For every Keith Richards, there are twenty Jeff Porcaro's.
