I had canceled my subscription to Bass Player last year because I thought the content of the magazine had really gone downhill. Over the year they kept sending me letters to rejoin and each time the price kept getting lower and lower. Well last week they sent me an offer I just couldn't refuse. One year for just $10. Has anyone else been suckered like that? |

They'll start warning you that your subscription's about to expire about three months prior. Then, "The next issue will be your last!", but they'll send you three or four more, all the while dropping price.
It pays to hold out if you like the rag.

| | | | U.K. publication of "Bass Guitar Magazine" is pretty good. Then again I've only read a couple issues and all the pricing is in euros (obviously). Still has way more actual content then B.P. |

I just started getting it agian after a 6 year lapse-- my wife got me the new subscription. while it does have less content than it used to- so it seems to me- it is easier to pickup and read than a computer, and in places were perhaps we shouldn't be using our laptop anyways!
The best thing about a mag is that it will bring us ideas or expose us to things that we might not seek on our own. Its good to read the articles even if we aren't already into the band or subject matter at hand. We might find something new that we like- |

I'm new to the bass; been playing 6-string guitar for years and have been subscribed to Guitar World on and off during the whole time. There's just something great about having a magazine in your hands to read when and where you want. I used to have a subscription to PC Magazine, but when they went digital-only I cancelled.
For a free online mag like...I can't remember the name...Tom Bowlous (sp?) is the boss there..I don't mind reading online b/c it's FREE. I can't complain about something free. I like his mag, BTW.
But for something I'm paying for, I don't like "reading it" online; I want paper in my hands. I'll recycle the mag and do my part, but I want a hard copy. |

A magazine is way more convenient and magazines can be fun to collect. |

I subscribed to Bass Player about three years ago and 12 issues is the same as buying 2 pizzas! Definitely worth the price. |

| | | | Don't forget Bass Musician Magazine. It's an on-line only publication but it's loaded with great content and it's free. |
