Backing Out of a Deal

Sign in to disble this ad
I backed out of a deal to sell a bass today after we had come to an understanding. It just became obvious to me that I love the bass and I would just end up replacing at some point.

I feel guilty. I'm just venting.

Shame on you Cheese. Just kidding, I was victim of 3 bass deals that the sellers
backed out of. I was out for a used Tobias, in the end I had to buy thru a dealer.
Say, what's the bass?

I tried to sell my Ripper 3 times. Each time, I got sicker and sicker the closer the deal was to being complete. Still, got it.

I definitely know what you mean. I was selfish, but I am also tired of letting basses go only to replace them. I was selling to finance a TL-5 purchase. I had originally planned to keep it on layaway for while because it was not a planned purchase and I did not want to bust the budget for a toy. Selling my Foundation was just giving into quick gratification instead of sticking to my plan.

I was in this same situation earlier this year. I made a post about it and got the worst flaming of your life. As long as the other party understands, I wouldn't feel guilty at all. Saying you were gonna meet somewhere to exchange and then not showing up would be bad, but if nothing had yet come to fruition I'd be cool.

You posted so that implies you're inviting opinions so .....

If you had come to an agreement and then backed on me, I'd immediately leave negative feedback. I've been in negotiations as both buyer and seller and couldn't come to terms, but that's a different story. There was no agreement so there'd be nothing to report on - we just didn't agree. But you say you "shook hands" with a fellow TBer and then went back on your word. So what if you regret the decision? I encourage you to be a man, contact the prospective buyer, and tell him you apologize and want to honor your end of the deal.

Don't mean to be harsh, but to me it's cut and dry. If you get a negative rating feedback you deserve it.

Don't put it up for sale unless you're completely sure it's really for sale!

Dang!

If money did not change hands and items weren't shipped then I dont find harm in it.
We are all allowed to second guess ourselves.

I agree, you should of thought about it before agreeing to sell it.
I would be kinda ticked off if it happened to me.

Sorry , you really are cool guy , but that's not a cool thing to do.

This. Until money has been sent to the seller, it's not a deal, it's a proposed deal.

Good on you for not flipping gear for the sake of flipping gear.

You do mean to be harsh, so why the weasel words? I can live with criticism, just say what you mean.

The other party may have already sent me money. If he has, I will honor the deal.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I recently traded here on TB my stingray for a Lakland P5
I sent my bass UPS and he got it next day. I just did normal ground.
He sent his bass to me USPS parcel post it still has not arrived 8 days later.

Should I be upset?

Sorry, be a man. Have a beer to forget the loss.

Maybe not just yet, the mail can be slow if he send it at the book rate or something.
