Question Band Equipment Hire

HELP...

I am in a band with some friends "CRISIS" and I am heading to New York from Australia in early August to play at a mates 50th party. Just your regular pub rock and roll covers.

We are looking to hire all of the gear (PA Amps drums mikes etc) bar guitars for the gig and I have no idea where to start looking for gear.

Can anywhere recomend some reasonablt priced kit ?

Also we are keen to try to get a gig in NY on the Wednesday or Thursday 3rd or 4th August (pup/bar work) 2 - 4 hour session just for the fun and a s a dry run for the party (preferably a place with a PA) anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers

What's your budget? NYC gets pricey for that stuff, so many of the legit clubs provide backline gear. If the club doesn't provide anything, SIR is the pro service - SIR NEW YORK: Welcome

I'm nearby in NJ and I own all of the basics, maybe we can work out a deal. Maybe get a bid from a pro service and I'll see if I can beat it?

I've got a couple of friends that own studios, and have everything you need. As jondog asked, what's your budget?

Or better yet, call or email these guys. Ask for tony, or rob, and tell them I sent ya from talkbass. Cherry Bomb Studios USA | Rehearsal & Recording Studios | Staten Island, NY

Thanks jondog and Joe Nerve, In Australia we normaly pay around $200 for a decent club PA, FOH and foldbanck speakers desk etc if the club dont have one, never hired amps etc so I dont know the cost there... band is two guitar one bass and a drummer and we will be just turning up with guitars and mikes! We dont need a lot but dont want crap either, my bass rig is a soundgear 750 with a GK 400 cab and head the guitarists use an Orange and a Line 6 with Fender Strats.

I have emailed SIR and Cherry Bomb and will see what they come back with first pass.

Thanks guys.

PS any thoughts on pubs to hit for a Wednesday/Thursday gig?

Don't want to be a downer, but that's going to be a tough one to pull off. Wednesday gigs (paying ones) are very sought after, most are taken, and if not the bars are looking for bands that will draw. It would be tough for a band from out of the country to land one, although I guess anything is possible. If you do original stuff and are looking for a 1 set kind of deal, then there's lots of places.

I know places in NJ, without PA or backline or pay, that I could probably get you into on a Wed. or Thurs.

Seriously? No backline, no PA, no pay? I know two clubs in Bayonne I can put you in touch with.

Thanks guys, no pay no problem just wanted to do it for the fun will have 3 -4 hour of material ready for the Saturday night gig that might be fun to run through, backline and PA may be an issue depends what the hire guys come back with. If we hire the gear from the Thursday to the Sunday it would be fine, will post once I have some feedback.

No origionals, just fun covers would probably suit an over 30's group (no real new stuff).

Thanks for the help guys appreciate it..

Hope you have a great time on that occasion! Come to think of it, nobody traveled that far to attend my 50th.
