Band/Gig Promotions On TB??

Hey Folks

I hadn't seen any gig advertising here on TB, but I'm certainly not the keenest searcher in cyberland. "So, I'm guessing you cannot promote gigs on TB, right? As far as your current band though? Other than in your profile, is pushing the name of your band done?

Thanks for the feedback.

Why would anybody want to? I promote gigs in areas where there are people who might actually be able to attend my gigs.

Uhmm...well...O.K. I didn't feel the need to state that obvious a point. Generally, nobody would care about gigs outside their local area. Equally obvious though, there are TBers in (for arguments sake) local MN who might very well be interested in what's going on here.

"Twin Cities GTG" under the "Social Events & GTGs" sub-forum might be worthwhile, then.

I was thinking of "area" in terms of topic more than geography. I would expect a bunch of bass players to have better things to do than come watch MY gigs. Target the promotion to the audience. That audience just isn't here on TB.

You're right man. Why would any particular bass player want to go see another, unless one thought the other was an incredible player/inspiration or something...which I am not. And like I said, I'm guessing that's not really done on the TB forum. But what I was really getting at--Which I should've been more out with it--is aimed more toward promoting one's band name.

I've seen plenty of statements like 'Hey, my band's got a new recording! What do you all think of it?' and there's a link. However, I also know that the screenreader (which reads pc text out loud; me being blind and all) I use does not even recognize some links like pics and graphics, so I miss a lot of what others actually see 'written' here. You wouldn't know this of course. I was just trying to skirt around all this extra...text and get directly to my point, so everybody wouldn't have to read another explaination from me as to why I am asking such a question. So... With that out of the way... (I also don't know how to use emoticons effectively, so pretend there's a sheepish smile here).

So I'll try this differently. Is it acceptable and ethically cool, as opposed to arrogant and self-serving, to... say... perhaps put one's band name in there signature?
(Speaking of signatures JohnMCA72, I crack up everytime I read that statement from Uncle Ted).
