Band Name _____ For Ranson

OK my band already has 2 songs written after 3 practices and 1 recording almost finished, but we yet to have a name. We definitely want _____ For Ransom. For the blank it should be an adjective and a noun, but we're stuck there. If anyone has ANY suggestions feel free to throw them up. Also please don't take this name.

I'd go with some alliteration so the name flows off the tongue easily. Something like "Reason for Ransom"....

Ransom for ransom, Mosnor for ransom.
I gotta say I don't hear anything *rolling off the tongue*'very well- try to say it drunk; if it doesn't work then, focus more on music. A name will come along

I did the generator link and I got a hit on "Lubed for Ransom"
It doesn't make any sense, but it's also sort of funny.

BTW, if you really want to sweat it out as a real band - you guys should come up with something on your own. Not trying to be a jerk or anything - but I'll tell you what builds character - try determining a band name between 5 dudes for 6 months only to settle on something that you still think is not the greatest only because you are headlining a summer music festival and the artwork needs to be submitted for a cd pressing.

(Personal experience)

My advice - don't settle on "____ for Ransom" and keep your ideas flowing. Each of you should write down what you think are cool words on a piece of paper and throw them in a hat. Mix them, write down the combinations, then have a hearty laugh about some of the ridiculous ones that you came up with. Eventually (hopefully) you'll settle on something you can all be happy with.

It's also a good practice in making sure you are not just putting together the first thing that comes together (applies to songwriting as well) and learning to self-criticize and edit, which is a great lesson for a band to try and reach higher goals and write better music.

Good luck.

Did any of you have someone that you all knew and either liked or disliked? Maybe use their name, such as Rita for Ransom, or Ransom for Bin Laden....It's a real, real slow day at work...

I've always been a fan of subtle nods to things that all or most band members are a fan of in band names. My band is full of word nerds so we're buffalo buffalo buffalo. I had a friend whose band had Orson Scott Card in common, so they became "The Enders." Sit down with your mates and talk influences and hobbies, see what arises. You may even be able to stick with the * for ransom if you find something that works.
