The _______ Mafia could be cool, but consider having to explain about the use of pentatonics in blues everytime somebody asks "What's a pentatonic"
Maybe, The Blues Mob; ok that's just as lame.
You'll think of something. |

Steve is a fine name, so why not a fine name for a band?

On a sider note: I was in Matt and The Monkey Mafia, but some techno bastard stole it!
On a sidest note: I've been meaning to release that album for a year or so now.

But besides, isn't Clapton already a part of the Pentatonic Mafia?

As such, I am not in favor of the "Mafia" part of your band name mainly because the Mafia has nothing to do with the history or traditions of blues. The Mafia is an Italian, more specifically a Sicilian tradition.
Furthermore, I don't know that Mafiosos had any particular affinity for blues music. Thus, I'm not sure that the name Pentatonic Mafia would carry much weight with real blues fans and might even cause antagonism. Perhaps what you seek is another word that reflects a closely knit group, but I don't even care much for mob or gang in relation to blues music.
Bluesmen were quite individualistic and even some were competitive with one another in relation to the skill of their musicianship.
This isn't very creative, but maybe something such as Pentatonic Blues Band or Pentatonic Bluesmen would be better. I know those names are lame, but the use of Mafia really isn't fitting in the context of a blues band. That's just my viewpoint, that being the viewpoint of a blues "purist", so to speak.

How about "The Blue Collar Mafia"? It's got blue and mafia, with a delightful "Color" pun thrown in.
