Well I'm 13 and me and my friends just started a rock band. I did'nt expect it to be so awesome! Well anyway none of the other bandmates can agree on a name. Suggestions? oh and also one of my friends is in the band but the problem is he doesnt play anything. He doesnt play any musical instruments. He wants to play bass but hes no good and I'm already the bassist. Its just a taboo that there cant be 2 bassists. I don't wanna hurt his feelings coz hes my friend but seriously should i just tell him the hard way? Yesterday in our jam all he did was play bass style lines on a guitar and it sounded REALLY bad. He doesnt have any rythm at all. A bit might come with practise but still... I'm the bassist.

Have a rhythm and lead bass player. It's been done on occasion.
Then name your band 2nd Base.
All your posters and logos can be close ups of sweater puppies. If that won't cultivate a following among your fellow 13 year old boys, I don't know what will.
And if you don't like that answer, then just wait until you guys have written some songs together. The vibe of the music, an inside joke from your time together, a suggestion from a friend or some random thought will give you a good band name. |

Hes getting a bit annoying. Yeah we were thinking of having rythm and lead bass but we'll have to try it first because phil doesnt have a bass. It just seems a bit complicated though.

Or give him a tambourine, some lycra shorts, and a wig and tell him he's now the band's gogo dancer. Tell him you're not kidding, he gets to be the gogo dancer or nothing at all. |

Ispose what me and pat and alex have been thinking about is just seeing what happens and in time we'll just kick him out.

For the record you CAN have two bassists actually that is a lineup I've been thinking of, my friend also plays bass and we were talking, maybe when he gets better we can start up somethin, have TWO bassists!!!!!! Oh the blasphemy!!
What I'd love is me playing lead bass, my friend keeping the rhythm at all times (of course Id still play the rhythm lines with him, but also lead), I'd like another guitarist doing the guitar solo's and keeping the treble and maybe me n the guitarist would kinda switch lead parts with each other. How would this work? Distortion, I would have my muff on, guitaris doing whatever guitarists do and my friend playing clean bass.
So instead of the traditional lead guitarist, 2nd/rhythm guitarist, bassist lineup-You'd have a lead/rhythm guitarist, lead bassist (also playing bass sharing rhythm/main licks with 2nd bassist & guitarist), 2nd bassist (keeps rhythm, maybe the occasional clean solo).
My inspiration Cliff Burton, Geddy Lee & Billy Sheehan all exceptional lead bassists!
Oh & I know a good name, a very good name that doesn't seem to be taken but thats my recommendation for a name in the band that I'll be playin in. (if I ever find one )
Still tho maybe Night Train would be a good name?

Two CAN work it would need a bit of work tho but I bet the end result would be phenomenal, this is of course if all players are experienced to a certain degree.
That Idea is just something I had in mind to do, seems like a few others would think it would be cool too. |
