Band Names

Ok, me and some friends of mine finally decided to form a band together, we are gonna start as a 90s cover band just to get some gigs (and money for that matter). We practiced for a bit the other day and got to talking about band names.

Our Lead Guitarist/Singer came up with the name "Those Guys" (yes, it was a joke a first) but then we got thinking. It really is a pretty catchy name.

Would like to know some other peoples opinion and possibly any other ideas TBer may have about a band name, because we are stuck and can't

And before anyone says anything about not needing to worry about a name right this second, our first gig is likely this August/September at a football tailgate so we need one by then and would like to promote via Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc. before then.

So tell me what you think about our singers idea, and if you have any other band names, Thanks!

Any time you think of a band name, first thing you should do is Google it, with the words "band" or "music". I just did that, and there are a whole lotta "Those Guys" out there. If the Google thing isn't so conclusive, the second thing to do is search on Myspace, because pretty much every indie band has a Myspace page. If you really want to get thorough, there are all those other websites where bands try to promote their music. But really, 99% of the time, Google will tell you.

not much point having the same name as another band in your area, no matter how cool it is (or anywhere for that matter).

Last Time I suggested band names here I made a Huge list of names and recieved some serious flack from all parties involved for what I thought were pretty creative names. So at the Risk of repeating that endeavor, I'll list some good sources for name inspiration instead.

1. Character names from obscure Movies/cartoons

2. Professional Wrestlers

3. Cereal (the stuff you at at breakfast with milk)

4. Industrial equipment

5. Something Goofy and the Something else Goofy's (aka Captain Crust and the Supernaturals) <- already taken but you get the idea

6. Being a 90's cover band, you might Look to 90's pop culture for ideas. However, unless your covering Grunge/Hardcore/Punk or Rap, I can't possibly think of what you would be covering that wasn't horrible from that era. Industrial equipment names were big in the 90's too. Helmet, Fuel, Tool, Chokebore, Nine Inch Nails, etc....(see #4)

If you tell us the general Genre your covering it might help narrow down the name search a little
