This is no big deal, but I think it's a nifty little story:

So I'm in two bands, both of which share the same practice space, and last night at practice for one band (Frizz-Bee), my roommate (coincidentally the drummer for the other band, The Red Line) decided to come along because he didn't have anything better to do. So we worked our way through practice and he sat at his own drum set and just leaned against the wall taking it in, but at the end Frizz-Bee's drummer had to leave pretty quickly (which is normal for him) and the guitard and I sat down to noodle around for a little bit (which is normal for us, we get some good writing done in that time). Well, at one point the guitard and I had a good groove going on our own when suddenly my roommate got the inspiration to join in, and a good groove turned into a GREAT groove, then the singer felt inspired and started riffing over what we were doing, and suddenly what usually is a ten minute noodle session turned into a 45 minute jam between the drummer of one band and the guitard of another, and I must admit, they meshed very well. We also pulled a 12 bar out of our asses that managed to not sound like Stevie Ray and sound a little more like Zeppelin and The Blue Man Group mixed together, if that makes any sense.

All in all, a good night. I'm thinking this may lead to some crossover stuff in future gigs...

One of the greatest things about being a "musician" is playing with all different kinds of people...

Everybody has a different feel and a different approach. It's what makes playing interesting.

Man, yeah. It's a great feeling when you're melding music together. A different story if I may?

Years ago, a blues band I was in was doing a free outdoor gig involving a dozen or so other bands. Due to very poor... something ...one full band (bluegrass) showed and did fine. The rest??? Part of a jazz thing and part of the band I was in were the only others to show. So we (blues) and the partial jazz band pulled together for the afternoon.

Being the non-pro that I was (and still am), I was scared as hell to play for an audience with no practice time; but it turned out well enough. --What did they want for free, eh??-- It was the only time I've ever played with brass and two percussionists. Great fun man!!

It's always good to pull a good jam out of a less than desirable situation. Well done, good sir.
