I don't think so. Some compare Muse to Radiohead, but I don't even like Radiohead.

Muse is a real conglomeration of a few different genres and influences.None of these are gonna be "just like" Muse but I can hear maybe mid-era Smashing Pumpkins, a bit of The Refused,.... hmmm...., a bit of 70s arena rock like Yes or even Genesis, maybe a touch of early (pre-Songs for the deaf) Queens of the Stone Age.

argh, good question... I know I'm missing some obvious connections.

Muse remains my favorite mainstream band of today.

I think it's probably more what people who like those bands also listen to. Similar to Genius on iTunes.

Is that a "No way!" to my suggestion that Audioslave is mildly similar, or that I don't think anyone else on that list really compares at all?

Again, any band someone mentions are just gonna have little bits that are similiar. Like any good band Muse has a unique sound that's forged on that backs of a LOT of other groups.

Starsailor is interesting, just finished checking some of their material. I wouldn't say they're like Muse just from what I've heard, but they are just as interesting nonetheless.

Great site Trevorus!

IMHO, Muse are Radiohead wannabees without the talent and vision of Radiohead. They are good musicians but so what.

I find Muse and Radiohead have far more dissimilarities than similarities. They are very different groups, one is not necessarily better than the other but I admire Muse's constant display of musicality and their wonderful ability to blend.

As I posted earlier, it's based on bands that people like who also like the band you search for. It's not an infallible resource, and it's not really even comparing styles so much as preferences.

To the audioslave and muse similarities, I mean both are great bands, but IMHO their only similarity is that both Belamy and Morelo like to make weird noises with their guitars but even in that they have a very distinctive aproach.

Yeah, I think Last.fm and Pandora are much more useful for that sort of thing.
