Bands with multiple basses

Ever seen anything of the like? I hadn't until I saw the band "Broken Social Scene" on Jimmy Fallon this past week:

It sounds pretty cool actually! Know any other bands that do this?

If Lynyrd Skynyrd can have 4 guitar players, I don't see why a band can't have more then 1 bass player.

Sounded pretty cool, but it looks like they only do two basses for that one song? After they got done, the singer went to bass and both bass players switched to guitars. Does anyone know their usual setup?

Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphumk has 2 bassists - they were on Treme recently. Willie Nelson used to have 2 basses, as did James Brown,

Mark Ibold and Kim Gordan both play bass in Sonic Youth.

Theres a band with the guys from joy division, the smiths, and the stone roses who is made up of 3 basses. I havn't heard their tracks, but I love all of their basslines from their respectable bands.

Seeing as you are perhaps a Rush fan, you have to have heard of Max Webster haven't you? A little number called BattleScar might draw some credit. 2 basses there including a fairly unknown bass player and singer you might recognize.

Max Webster's "Universal Juveniles" (with Battlescar) is a great album and one of my favorites. I would have loved to have seen them when they toured with Rush, but never got the chance.

Sometimes I'll play my 8-string, as more of a rhythm guitar, with a bass and lead and drums, It's FUN!

Wow! Thank you for bringing this to my attention...always great to hear a nice little collab like that

I had heard of Max Webster before, but today was my first time hearing that song. I love it

Thanks all for your kind replies! I guess the thought of more than one bass isn't too crazy, eh? People might even label it as "unconventional" , but I think it makes as much sense as rhythm/lead guitar. And these are all great examples, thanks guys
