Clatter is a bass/drum duo. (Although you'd never guess it by listening....Amy the bass player uses a triamped rig.) They are also very cool people. Amy posts on the Dude Pit.

Spinal Taps Big Bottom comes to mind but they had a drummer. Why would you do it anyway? that makes about as much sense as a band with a gutiarist and a drummer, boy that would sure suck to listen too!!

I was watching Conan O'Brien the other day and they had a band called "Death from Above 1979" on and they were just a bassist and a drummer who sang.

Superbass was a trio of Ray Brown, Christian McBride and John Clayton.

Hard to beat that.

This months Bass Player talked about the Bassist from Mars Volta and the Bassist from Audioslave/RATM playing together with 2 fretlesses and a drummer. The band was called Big Sir. I went online and couldn't find anything about them. Does anyone know anything?

Hmmm.... If I remember correctly, Cop Shoot Cop was bass, drums, and samples.

Ned's Atomic Dustbin had two bassists, but I think they had guitars too.

Ned's Atomic Dustbin also had one dude playing keyboards unless I am mistaken. He wore his baseball cap backwards and danced while he played. The keyboard stand would be rocking and shaking, making me wonder how long those keyborads were going to stay attached.

There's a girl that performs solo, accompanied only by her bass. I forget her name. I could find it out if you really wanted it though.

I would imagine that a group that was nothing but basses would sound kind of boring, unless you had a couple of piccolo basses in there.

I've done tonnes of gigs with just bass and drums. Dirk Diggler and I did one where he played Warr guitar and I switched back and forth between fretless bass and guitar synth throughout the night. Way fun, that was.

hmm now that I think about it *LOL*

Band X is a semi-punk band with jsut drums, vocals, and bass... odd songs *L* VERY odd songs...

Les Claypool's many iterations of musical mayhem also come to mind.
