On the Country scene...........
Rascal Flatts!

Man, what a nasally, whiny voice the singer has.
all of their songs sound EXACTLY the same.

As much as I can't stand Axl Rose, nobody does GNR better than Axl.

I have to go with Rush, Rage Against the Machine, and Smashing Pumpkins.

... guy needs to see a timeline. Maybe actually check out a Soundgarden song or something. Of all things that ruin bass player's enjoyment of Soundgarden, I'm surprised Ben Shepard (bass player) didn't come up. Chris Cornell has one of the most notable voices in Rock. I see what you're saying with the generic radio rock tho, he really toned down his voice around the last SG album. thru his solo BS especially. But check out King Animal chief. helluva range for a reunion album!

Cheers!

Duran Duran. Aside from his bleating, his smugness made me want to smack him.

I love Pearl Jam with the exception of Eddie Vedder. They could have been one of the better US rockbands if he wasn't such a class A douche.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I don't like him because he just can't let the music speak for itself. Don't get political. There are a ton of other blowhards that do such, but Pearl Jam is such an otherwise good band, musically.

It's always been Rush for me. These guys as musicians are amazing but Geddy Lee's voice kills it for me. He IMO is absolutely horrible. Totally ruins it for me.

Gord Downey of the Tragically Hip.

Awesome band to go see live and listening to Gord rant is priceless. But to sit and listen to an album hurts my ears

I'm sure I'll take hell for this, but I can't listen to Phil Collins.

Good songwriter and arranger, awful voice IMO.

Not crazy about David Lee Roth although I like his sense of humor. Steven Tyler and that chattering monkey thing makes my skin crawl. I really wish he wouldn't do that.

Many songs. Stinkfist, for example: The chorus brings images of musicians doing short jumps to the rhythm of the song all over the stage...

Dude, are you friggin' kidding me? You might be the only person on the planet to ever utter these words. Those harmonies are one of the things that sets AIC on the very top of the 90s Seattle groups ( and in the upper eschelon of all rock and roll bands in general).

Obviously opinions are subjective and I certainly respect yours, but my opinion is that Layne Staley had the coolest voice in the history of recorded music and the way he and Cantrell harmonized in 5ths brought out a haunting aspect that is unequaled by anyone.

Plus a billion. Cantrell/Staley harmonies are about as good as it gets.

I LOVE Geddy, but I've always secretly wished they'd hire a new singer and just let Geddy do his thing on bass.
