Tool (just keep writing the EXACT SAME SONG over and over again)
Grateful Dead
Phish
jam bands in general
Dave Matthews (he never would've gotten anywhere if it wasn't for the musicians he hired)
Springsteen
The Stones (BORING!)
Dream Theater and shred music in general (WANK WANK WANK WANK!)
Creed (Pearl Jam-lite)
Guns 'n Roses
Death Metal in general, worthless nihilistic crap in my opinion
ANYTHING that uses Auto-Tune, period!
Rap. period! Stupid, juvenile and often criminal.
Wailing pop divas
Styx, Journey, Foreigner, Boston and ANY corporate rock band.
Van Halen, now just a shadow of their former selves, pathetic really. PACK IT IN!
Lynyrd Skynyrd
ELVIS! (vastly overrated IMHO)

On a separate note, I don't have issues with Rush themselves (the music I could take or leave though, just doesn't speak to me), but I CANNOT STAND THEIR OBNOXIOUS LEG-HUMPING FANBOYS!!! GET A LIFE!

Can't stand:

AC/DC, Tool, The Cure, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Foghat, Genesis, Phil Collins, The Grateful Dead, Creed, Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rush, Yes, Janis Joplin, Jethro Tull, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Coldplay, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, INXS, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Any Jackson spawn, Any British Invasion, Any Pop, Any Electronic, Any Disco, Any Country, Any Rap, Any Boy Band, Any Hip-Hop, Any Synth-Pop, Any Folk Music, Any Salsa, Any Latin Jazz, Any Classic Rock, Any Rock & Roll, Any 80's Hair Rock, Any Christian music in general.

There are many more. It is fair to say that I don't like most of everything out there. That isn't to say that they aren't talented, skilled, or successful. It is only to say that I don't care for their music, and if I was listening to the radio (which I don't do), and any of the above came on, I would turn it off.

Awesome.

Has anyone else noticed that disliking certain things is just as fashionable as liking certain things? I'm not saying that's always the case - I'm sure most, if not all the posts in this thread are true visceral feelings, but a friend told me, today, that it's become real popular among his peers (early-mid twenties) to hate the Beatles for being "The Most Overrated Band on Earth".

I remember when I was a teenager, it was real popular to hate Pink Floyd as TMOBoE (this might have been because of the "Pulse" album which everyone's Boomer parents listened to nonstop) and later, in my twenties, Nirvana was TMOBoE for a long while.

Just an observation. I'm not accusing anyone here of being a trend follower. It's just interesting that fashion has a positive (I like this) and a negative (I can't stand this) side that complement one another.

I get that. I'm kind of on the fence about nirvana. they're several of their songs I like, and I like Krist Novoselic, and I think Butch Vig did a really good job recording Nevermind, but I can never sit through the whole album.

Here's the few that I can think of.

Hendrix - Totally respect what he did for guitar, but his stuff just never turned my knobs.

Springsteen - Good songwriter, great backing band, but, meh, just couldn't get into his stuff.

Doors - My old mates from my college band used to say I didn't like them because they didn't have a bass player. I responded that, not being a fan of the group, I didn't even know that till you told me! :-)

More contemporary:

John Mayer - A like a few of his songs, and know that he's a fine player, but like Hendrix, it just doesn't grab me.

Bruno Mars - ........... Who?

James Blunt - .....

"Yer beautiful
Yer beautiful
Yer beautiful
Yer beautiful
Yer beautiful
Yer beautiful
Yer beautiful...."

God! We Get It! Someone is beautiful! Shut Up Already!!!!!

-Primus. I am impressed with Les Claypool as a bass player, but Primus' music simply doesn't click with me.
-Tom Waits. I find his voice to be very annoying.
-Alicia Keys. I haven't heard too many of her songs, but I don't like the few that I have heard. One example is her song "No One", which is painful to listen to because she seems to be straining for pretty much the whole song. The rest of her songs are simply stupid and unmemorable for me. The only song by her that I like is "Another Way To Die" and even then, the only reason I like that one is because it also has Jack White.
-Taylor Swift. I dislike her music for pretty much the same reason as most people do: She is not a good singer. Again, I have only heard a few of her songs, but I didn't like them and I am sick of hearing "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"
-John Lennon. I never liked his solo music. In my honest opinion, it's not all that it's cracked up to be.
-Guns N' Roses. The same reason as Primus. Their music doesn't click with me. However, I do like "Welcome To The Jungle" (mainly because of the "Shalalalalalalalalalala knees, knees!" part)

I didn't avenge sevenfold that much. really it's because their music confuses me. they mix so many genres of music, I don't know what to classify them as. also their songs don't impress me that much.
