It would be easier for me to talk about what I like or that I never listen to than what I don't like ...

I second this. I live in Delaware, about 30 minutes from Philly where Bruce is considered a GOD. Personally, I cannot stand him or his music. I just find it uninteresting, has a few good songs. Around here I keep that opinion to myself as you will get a lynch mob for such words.

I'm with you guys. There are many popular bands that I don't
particularly care for.

How many times have you gone to a concert and, after about
and hour, said to yourself, "OK, I've had enough now."?

For me, the answer is "Too many." Only a small fraction of
popular bands can keep me entertained for a long evening
and wanting more. There is too much "me too" music (music
that is predictable and just like a hundred other forgetful tunes
you have heard) and too much "pentatonic drivel" (guitar
meandering that you can't remember one minute later). And
the lyrics...redundant, cliche, created with little or no effort.

Kiss ... they just don't do it for me.

Also there are a lot of bands where I don't like most of their work but they have a few good songs ... like the Rolling Stones

There is a band called Pet Shop Boys ?????

Edit ... I looked them up ... they are not a band ... it's 2 guys and a couple of computers making crappy pop songs ...

Edit ... your list is full of bands where you wouldn't want to listen to their full list of songs but most of them have 1 to 3 really good singles.

While I'm not really fan, I still acknowledge their musical contribution. I find it very arrogant, and borderline ignorant, to assume a band you don't like sucks.

I gotta agree with a bunch of these posts. Springsteen, Kiss, U2, Bob Marley. I just can't dig any of them. Especially the whole reggae genre. I know it has its place but to me it is just soooooooooooo repetetive. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy getting "toasted" too but that only makes me want to listen to something a little more interesting than a rhythm section repeating the same thing over and over

Given enough replies by enough people, I am sure that every band ever will be mentioned. So in short,

no band is good, they all kinda stink,

This is true. I think it's kinda fun to talk about in a way, though.

The kind of music I listen to gets nonstop abuse from just about everyone I talk to, so for me, it isn't anything out of the ordinary to hear people saying they can't stand bands I like. Hell, one person on the boards (I won't say who), about a year ago or so, said that he hates the fans every bit as much as the music he was bashing and even claimed to cross the street in order to avoid those perceived fans of said music when he saw them on the sidewalk.

I didn't bother to start a flame war or to even send a PM. I don't care that someone is that uptight. And I'm glad that some others here can take someone disliking their favorite music in stride. I don't think the intent was mean spirited unless the OP was hoping for flame wars, and I didn't get that impression.

I grew up in jersey and hated springsteen when I was a teenager. I moved to Fl and 30 years later his show are like a religious experience. That being said, I hate when he breaks out a simple 1-4-5 rock n roll tune. His epic songs move me. The Rising managed to take 911 and turn it into cheerful sounding songs about a dark subject.
T o each their own:
I dislike Rush, Metallica, anything on terrestrial radio or my cover band plays every week.

THANK YOU SO EFFING MUCH OP!!!!

I think Bruce Springsteen seems like a cool guy, and I get why so many people like his, sort of - and my parents are huge fans -

But I would rather listen to ANYTHING other than Bruce Springsteen's music... ANYTHING.

I would rather listen to 3 hours of Barbra Streisand, Yoko Ono and my Tone-Deaf mother singing cheesy Christmas tunes, backed by The Shaggs (seriously, can we make this happen!?!?!?!?) than listen to 5 minutes of Bruce Springsteen...

I have no idea why... I like his backing band... but to me he sounds like a Wookie being tortured - and all I can think is "LET THE WOOKIE WIN, GODDAMMIT!!!)

Wait...Yoko Ono? I agree with not liking Springsteen but this is over the top.

By the way, is there anybody -- anybody -- who likes Yoko Ono's musical work?
