Basking in reflected glory

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a sweet gig on Saturday 13th of this month. The drummer on the gig was my pal Luke Harris - awesome player.

7 days later, he's playing the huge V festival here with Wretch 32, and the same day they go number 1 in the charts.

Well, it's the first time I've ever done a gig with someone who got to number 1 the following week. I'm gonna dine out on this one, folks.

Anyone else got any reflected glory stories?

I don't have any good stories, but just wanted to say that I find it awesome to see jargon from my field (social psychology) being used outside of the ivory tower of academia. I never heard the term "basking in reflected glory" (aka BIRGing) until college, but I learned what it was in seventh grade when an unpopular classmate suddenly gained popularity by telling anyone who would listen that John Taylor was her second cousin. I never found out if she was telling the truth. Maybe I should look her up on Facebook and ask if she could arrange for him to give me a bass lesson.
