| | | I really wish I could, but since I would have to go all the way to the US for such an event, my budget wouldn't allow it.
I hope those who sign up have a great time though.

We've had folks from Europe, Australia, Mexico, Barbados, Israel, etc........it amazing to get 60 bass players from around the US and World together.....talk about collective knowledge!
Usually the learning day begins at 8am, and besides a break for lunch, its a full schedule until dinner time. After dinner are the nightly concerts until 11pm+.....then a sight reading class until 1am!!! Its packed with all things BASS....and the group gets broken up into 4.....so its 15 on 1 during the master classes. Each and every day you get a master class with Steve Bailey, Victor Wooten, Mike Pope, and Gregg Bissonette.
At the nightly concerts, you'll see Vic, Steve, and Pope do their thing....special guests have included Mike Stern, Jimmy Herring, Oteil Burbridge, Chris Duarte, and MORE!!
I'm getting excited for this years event....and BTW, I'm of Danish roots also!
Aloha, Garey

All skill levels are accepted....everybody has got something to offer others, we're all students AND teachers at the same time at an event like BATB. Can you imagine the collective knowledge of 60+ bass players?!?!?
Cost is $1230 for 5 days.....which includes your hotel room (BEACHFRONT!!), ALL meals - catered just for us, transfers to and from the airport, and all camp costs. You really shouldn't need any extra cash while your at camp, with the exception of some beverages, or t-shirts, etc! You get MORE than 12+ hours of all things bass....ain't cheap, but IMO its well worth it. Vic, Steve, Pope, and Bissonette are there the whole time....so you get plenty of hang time and one on one.
ALSO>>>> there is a raffle at the end of BATB, where we give away basses, amps, and lots of goodies from the sponsors....easily $10k+ worth of stuff!

How have things been??
I'd guess that the basic methods will be the same, but what you get out of them may differ....if you understand what that means!
Last year we had a few repeat BATB'ers.....they all seemed to agree that although the curriculum was similar to the year before.....they got something new out of it, due to their 'new' perspective, skills learned, etc...
If you've been before and want to go again, drop them a line! I can't gaurantee it will be ALL new.....but of course things will differ, and the nightly concerts will be different. Last years concerts were incredible....

There are amps provided for you.......and they're also yours to use for jam sessions when/if you can squeeze some time between the classes, lectures, concerts, etc! Usually the jam sessions are a late night thing...and sometimes they go for hours!
One GREAT thing about bass players......from what I've seen at these camps, VERY little EGO is displayed....we become a group, regardless of 'level of playing'. We share, learn from each other, and really make progress in our playing. IMO its an invaluable resource, and I think its awesome that guys like Vic, Steve, and Pope do this for US.

| | | | Hey Garey. Reunion camp was a blast, it's too bad you couldn't make it. Maybe sometime in the future.
I don't think I'm going for Bass at the Beach this time round. But One of these years I'll give it a look. My personal approaches and styles have evolved tremendously in the past couple years, that I don't think a rigorous bass workout is exactly what I'm looking for... one day though. There's always more to learn.
take care

Yeah....I couldn't make Reunion Camp because of an unexpected Back Surgery Bummer, but it was more important that I heal....
Bass At The Beach and BNC are definitely DIFFERENT...so please think about it in the years to come. Quite an experience, having done both....
Anyways, hope all is well.....and maybe we'll see you at BATB 2008!! j/k
