Anybody remember those neoprene (I think) covers for guitars and basses that covered the back and sides of the body so that they wouldn't get scratched?
It seems that I'm going to be playing my electrics again quite a bit more than I have been, and since my uniforms have all sorts of "scratchy" things on them, I'd like to have some protection for my basses. If anybody knows where I can find these things, I'd much appreciate it.

I remember them, I don't know where to find them anymore, but I remember a guy having a yellow one with black squigglies on it covering his pink HM series Strat.

Since then, I have only two reco's that are pretty obvious;
1. If you wear a belt, wear it sideways so that the buckle is on the side of one of your hips
2. No shirts with buttons of any kind

I use it in a critical spot.
Works great. |

I'm pretty sure modifying the uniform or not wearing his medals are not viable options either.
Pacman - Maybe you need a highly modified cheapo bass like an Essex or Squire. You could drop some nice p/up's in and change the bridge, you could even put a high quality aftermarket neck on it. Build a real player around a body that you don't give a hoot about. Just a thought.
Edit - the post directly above mine seems to be more on line with what Mr. P. is looking for.

industrial plastics supplier. I would be looking for
thin sheet plexi or acrylic to make essentially a
thin clear pick guard. I would then outline the bass,
trim the material 1/8 inch in or so, depending on if your
bass has a flat back. It wouldn't work for a sculpted
back.
There are semi permanent adhesives used in the
drafting industry or drawing that are useful to hold
materials on firmly, but not necessarily with a permanent
adhesive gum or coat. Certain types of light rubber
cements are easily removeable as well.
The adhesive concept I would look for is almost like
the 'post it note' strength.
