They do have one. Except they messed up the spelling...it's called Bass Central.

There's also BassNW, and I believe BassGallery, don't forget Blueberry Hill...there are others too!

The 'edit' button is a very clever tool. <= This is what a
period looks like, by the way.

Where is manhatton? Never heard of it.

With regard to your question, there are many stores
and dealers that specialize in basses and related gear.
Low Down Sound in the Detroit area is nice. I have heard
nice things about Low End and Austin Bass Traders as
well.

Opening a small specialized retail business requires a
good business plan, sufficient capital, a good bank
relationship, and a lot of hard work. Good luck
with your life dream.

True, there are a lot of quality places out there; but they're sporadically (Help on spelling... anyone?) spread throughout the country. It'd be really cool, but hard and probably near impossible, to start a national chain of bass gear stores. Then again, think about it: do you really want a "bass" version of guitar center? I mean... that place sucks. Why don't we all pitch in and get basscentral or bassnw to franchise?

Bass center?

What- so we can go somewhere & hear every 12-yr-old tone-deaf, rhythm-blind anti-musician within a 12 mile radius wank out the worst rendition of every Red Hot Chili Pepprs/Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin that you DON'T want to hear? Oh wait- that IS Guitar Center. BTW, the kind of basses you're probably refferring to are properly known as bass *guitars*, so again, we already have more than enough GC's. Lastly, I think I'm not alone in feeling that comparing BassNorthWest, BassCentral, etc w/GC is full-on sacrilege(sp?).

BTW, no offense to any 12-yr-old who does the above w/taste.

i'd agree to this.

going to a high end bass shop is like meeting the pope, while going to GC is drawing pictures in a hotel room's bible.

...not that this analogy makes any sense... but it sounded good in my head
