Bass Clarinet Q`s

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello! i`ve been renting a clarinet for 2 month now, and decided to buy it, since i can make it sound quite good for the time id been practicing! Im really likeing it!

The other day i saw a Marcus Miller Concert (master of all trades) where he plays a bass clarinet, and thought it sounded WAY better, and also WAY lower!!!

So i began a search for a Bass Clarinet instead. The problem is that here in Uruguay nobody sells one, so i have to travel to Argentina or order one.

My questions are the following:

-since it has a lower register, ill have to use more air to make it sound? (i find in the standard clarinet that the lower notes are more difficult to play than the higher ones)

-is the finguering the same between the bass and the standard? Or is it another methd?

-is there anything else i should conseider? i may be able to try one before buying it (if i dont order it) but maybe ill have very little time to try it and to make my mind, so i want to be prepeared as much as i can.

Well! Thanks guys!!!

i used to play one years ago
same fingerings and i don't remember it needing alot more air to play but it does sound much more cooler than a regular clarinet.
