New mags often have problems getting the first few issues out, so the delay doesn't bother me too much. Tom Bowlus (editor) posts here regularly, too, and I'm sure he would have said something here if there were something going down with Bass Gear Magazine.

Yes, we do still exist, and yes, we are working very hard on issue #4. I am hoping to get this issue out within the next several weeks. There has been a huge delay between issues #3 and #4, and I agree that this is unacceptable. I apologize for this. However, we have not been sitting back doing nothing during this time period.
We have been working on improving nearly every aspect of the magazine, but the biggest time sink has been the changes to our bench-testing methodology and equipment. We purchased an Audio Precision APx521 system (which ain't cheap, trust me!), and we have separated the testing duties for amps and cabs. Tom Lees is doing the amp tests (and has done major amounts of work tweaking our testing procedures), and I am working with a local college's music tech program to do the speaker testing. We have also brought Ed Friedland on as a reviewer, and he will be featured in issue #4.
As for not returning calls, I do return any calls that come to my attention. I am not sure what the OP's real name is (other than Cleve), but I do know that several weeks back, I returned some calls and left messages but never talked to a real person. My apologies if you did not get a return call. PM me with your number and I can call you if you still need to talk.
Again, I apologize for the delays, and I appreciate people's patience. We are still working very hard, and once we get past the issue #4 bubble, we should be able to crank out subsequent issues in a much more timely fashion. |

DP | I really appreciate all of your support, folks! Man, this has taken a very long time to get issue #4 out, and I really appreciate everyone's patience. It may not be immediately obvious at first glance once you get issue #4, but we really have changed a lot about how we do our bench-testing. This is going to require us to go back and retest some of the equipment from issues #1-3, which to be honest is partly the reason why issue #4 took so long. I probably could have put one or two more issues out using the old testing methods, but I wanted to minimize confusion and the need for retesting, and so we decided to wait until we had our new procedures in place. That isn't to say that we are not done with making additional improvements/enhancements to our testing. Far from it. In fact, we have a number of additional irons in the fire, but they should all be compatible with the core tests we are introducing in issue #4.
Some other "firsts" for issue #4 will be our first player interview, our first vintage gear tests, and the debut of Ed Friedland as a BGM staff reviewer! I am definitely stoked, though pretty tired at the moment. We're getting down to the final brushstrokes, and issue #4 should be done relatively soon.
Again, I thank you all very much for your time and support!

Any release date for #3?

#4 is still being laid out by our overworked Publisher, but I am hoping that it will be out in time for Christmas (electronically, at least).
I do apologize for the long delay between #3 and #4. A good chunk of that delay was for what I hope folks will agree were valid reasons. Now, if this layout would only get done... |

Thanks. | We do not have it at any newsstands i the UK at the moment, but an international print subscription (or a free electronic subscription) is available from our webpage, www.bassgearmag.com.
