Bass Guitar Mag - $11.50

Sign in to disble this ad
I had to go to the mall today to pick up my contacts and went through the bookstore, as Bass Player Mag is usually out by this time of the month. I picked up the new edition, and then noticed a Bass Guitar mag available, also. When I got to the register the bill was over $17!!!! For two magazines!!!! The bass Guitar mag was $11.50. Incredible. Needless to say, I will not be buying any more magazines at that price. That's just a bit steep for me, especially when I can learn so much more by stomping around Talkbass for a fraction of the price.

UK magazines are always very expensive Stateside. Its a great mag so, If you want to pay about 1/2 price get a subscription. I did that with UK moto mags. Its reverse too - the last time I went to Europe my wife picked up a US mag when we were in the Frankfurt airport- Cosmopolitan or something. I went to the register and it was 17 Euros !!!! Like $20!!

On the flipside, Bass Player (US) over here in the UK costs about £4.25, which is about the same as the UK Bass Guitar magazine. We appear to have it good.

If Bass Player was $4.25 for a subscription over here, I might think about subscribing... I get way more info from TB than I ever have from any of the monthly bass mags.

Just sayin'... *shrugs* lol

$4.25 per year for a subscription to any monthly magazine is not being realistic.

'Course, I'm such an old fart, I remember 19 cent-per-gallon gasoline.

But that was then.

$11.50? Not a problem.

A high roller like me spends that much every day on wining, dining, and assorted pharmaceuticals.

Oh I know that's not realistic. I'm just saying that if it was that low, I *might* think about getting a subscription.

$11.50 is high, but I really like Bass Guitar magazine. Lately it seems like a good value since Bass Player has gotten so thin in overall size and the quality of most interviews. In the current issue, the only the feature story on Nathan Watts and "Do I Do" is worth reading.

I remember coming back from Philly & my dad would want for the 17-cent gas...after passing about a dozen or so 19-cent stations.

Large production magazines go for that price. eBay use to allow selling subscriptions, and thats where i would get mine for that price

BP has gotten thin, but I think the quality is still there, times are tough and nobody wants to advertise. UK Bass Magazine, $11.00 is fair, they have to ship it over here, and from memory they use a more expensive stock (paper). I work in the printing industry, so I support both. Now Photoshop mags are a different store $25+
