Bass history book

Hi,

A long time ago I was given a copy of the "Complete Guitar Player's Handbook". I dug it out the other day and really enjoyed the sections on maintenance etc.

What I am wondering though, is are there any similar books out there that trace the history of the bass guitar, have advice on upkeep, repairs and lots of woody (ahem) bass porn?
