bass-ic things i have learned in the past year

Sign in to disble this ad
(after 25+ yrs of bass playing at some level)

*thanks to TB for this knowledge

*put on my first set of flatwounds and my fingers and i WILL NEVER GO BACK TO ROUNDS AGAIN!
*first truss rod adjustment(s)! (4 basses and i had never adjusted one. i thought high-action was good for the soul)
*first intonation! (there are frets above the 12th?)
*i know how Ohm's work (ohmygod i shouldn't have connected this to THAT)
*i know why bridge saddles are arranged a wee bit back from each other
passive pickups can be good (hawter than i remember)
*the Squier VM is a wolf in sheep's clothing (love this new modrod)
when Carvin says a pickup is low-output, they aren't kidding (shhhhh!)
*many bass players in my area (NC) that post on TB
*learned FIRST major scale box (how sad and wonderful!)
*learned that speakers side-by-side sans biamping is a no-no

thank you TB

what have YOU learned in the past year?
