So i'm currently in the navy and I'm trying to find something that i can use under way to play my bass though garage band. So far i tried a vox bass amp plus and that was boke with in a month. than i got a Yamaha audiogram usb audio interface that was broken within 2 months so now I'm in the middle of the pacific and have no way of hearing my self play does anyone have any suggestions. I need it to be small enough that i can fit the whole sat up it a small locker and it to be durable.

Durability might be hard to achieve. I just got a Korg Pandora 5 and it is much better than my amplug. But it is also made out of plastic.

Why not just use one of the micro heads that have a headphone/out? Personally I'd recommend a Genz-Benz shuttle paired with a pair of sound-isolating headphones. Small, easy to store, gives you privacy AND doesn't disturb others.

Get a 1/4"-1/8" adapter and plug the bass into your Mac.

Not ideal - that little 1/8" plug gets loose after a while with a heavy lead + adaptor stuck into it.

Some kind of USB converter would be better eg:

USB Guitar Adapter

Apogee is the gold standard there:

(I've never tried one - I have a 16 track firewire)
