What are your best sources for bass guitar news? Are there any GOOD magazines out there? Seems like everything out there is for guitar :'(

Most guitar mags have about as much useful info as the "leading" bass rag... lol.

I miss Guitar World's Bass Guitar. Sigh.

I personally think that Talkbass is better than any bass magazine available - I get the latest news, great photos, interesting stories, reviews, advice, and even the occasional interview, not to mention meeting cool people all in one place! Yes, I'm a nerd.

Completely agree with the above poster about TalkBass.

I've bought about a dozen issues of the leading bass magazine. Some interesting articles here and there. But after reading them cover to cover several times, my overall impression from this mag is that unless you play smooth jazz on a $4000 six-string bass, you're not really a bass player. Just my two cents.

Yup. Again like I said, I was totally bummed about GW's BG. Which is now GW is actually my only subscription. Even if it's not about "bass" as much, they at least cover bands I care about.

bass musician magazine is a very good online source; free; and with deep interviews of great player, as muscial discover and technical tips source. A must read IMHO.

Talkbass + Bass Gear Magazine (started by/written by TBers) is a fantastic combination. I'm in no way associated with the magazine, but it's a fine publication with in-depth interviews and gear reviews. I recently ponied up for the print version (which is really high-quality), but there's a free online version as well.
