The bass player amp association game

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there fellow bassists.

Just thought of this last night since I was not able to get to sleep. I thought it would be interesting to know the different types of bassplayers and what's their quipment of choice based on their style. So here's a few questions.

1) Name your main influence as a bass player

2) What type of music are you playing

3) What is your main bass

4) Now imagine you have a deal with a label and they're ready to finance your equipment. What amp and a max of two cabinets are you getting, assuming you don't already have it?

I'll go first

1) Tony Levin
2) Pop, Rock.
3) MM Stingray 5
4) Aguilar DB750 with either 2 4x10 from Aguilar or Eden

1) i don't have one

2) don't know how to call it.. guess alternativerock.. (more in the style of DFA1979, but instead of a drummer, i play with a guitarplayer and am planning doing the beats electronicaly, using ableton live and a footpedal to activate loops while playing live)

3) ibanez ergodyne (hope one day i'll get my hands on a snowwhite ritter roya)

4) a guitar combo amp (yeah, money is a big issue... ) and if the money would be there, i wouldn't even know what to buy...

1. It'd probably be a mix between Brian Marshall (Creed/Alter Bridge) and Matt Rubano (Taking Back Sunday) for my influence. Their playing style is what I notice coming out of my playing the most.

2. Rock/pop. My band is a mix between Oasis, Zeppelin, ACDC, and Coldplay...?

3. RIght now my main bass is a Bongo 5. If this is asking what my dream main bass would be : Sadowsky PJ.

4. Aguilar DB750 powering a GS410 and a GS412.

1) Lots of influences. A lot of the songs that I practice to are from the Chili Peppers, Muse, and The Offspring.
2) I play rock/metal/punk/alternative/funk (sometimes )
3) Traben Phoenix 5
4) Hmm.... Aggie DB 680 into 2 DB 728s into a Bergantino 610 and a Bergantino 215, but I would also want HT 210s on top of each for some extra high end sizzle. I would also want my Boss GT-6B. Of course, I am assuming that roadies come with the rig

1) John Entwistle, John Paul Jones
2) Rock, Blues
3) Erk. All of them? Can't pick just one.
4) Can I pass on the head and just get 3 Genz Benz 610 cabs? I'd love to run my 400PS with 3 of those.
