Ok, this is definitely a rant from me and a pet peeve. Some folks probably wouldn't be annoyed by this. BUT, I've decided that the content from Bass Player magazine becomes less useful and relevant to me with each passing day, so I have decided to cancel my subscription. I go to the BP site, login (takes a few tries to get the customer number right), am able to view the status of my account but NOT able to unsubscribe from my little personal status page. Ok, I go and search around a little - sure enough, no link for unsubscribing. My status is shown as active in a little blue link, but nothing pops up when I click on it. It is confirmed: there is no way to unsubscribe from their website.
This stuff really gets my goat! In order to unsubscribe, I have to send them a message telling them who I am and that I want to unsubscribe. Nothing on the website about whether I get my money back prorated based on the issues I haven't yet received, so I have to ask that question in my message too. We'll see what they say to me in their response. I receive spam advertising email at work every day with much friendlier, more comprehensive unsubscription facilities and documentation. I just feel annoyed when services do things, even small stuff like this, that insults my intelligence and makes me have to go the extra (1,2,3, ?) steps in order to cancel my subscription. They've already taken money from me, and they clearly have a competent website framework setup, so the baffling lack of a mention anywhere on the site about unsubscription is just deliberate obstacle-placement on the part of the publication.

But on the same not 30 and there really isnt that much usefull stuff in it other than new gear. but most of the new gear ive seen or read reviews on them already.

I have never even seen the publication (been playing for over 30 years) but in this day of instant everything you shouldn't have a problem. Instant subscribing and instant canceling of accounts is done all the time no matter what the business is. |

Seriously, my wife ran into the same problem with rolling stone. She bought a subscription from a neighborhood kid. Then couldn't cancel it.

A response I got from Bass Player: Quote: |
I do apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. I have canceled your account as well as placed a order for refund. Please allow 4-6 weeks for refund to process towards your credit card.
| I'm not sure whether that's a full refund, but if it is then that is very gracious. However, I don't KNOW whether it's a full or partial refund because it's not written A). on the site or B). in the personal message they sent me. I don't doubt that as a business they treat people fairly, but I really do take issue with services trying to make your life hard just to leave them, ESPECIALLY when you pay for them. And having a lack of posted information about the process, the ramifications, etc. is just poor practice. Hopefully my b******* on here will catch the eye of an affiliate of the publication and will add some weight to my personal letter of dissatisfaction on this. And they better not be sending me any letters imploring me to reconsider and blah blah blah
