Since you are not getting a lot of replies yet I'll bump your thread and offer that I found Google Sites to be a good way to start out with a free website. Domains registered with godaddy, but sites on google.
Mine is not for a band and is nothing fancy but feel free to look. I set it up myself with no previous experience. Yes I know it shows, but I can't afford professional help.
