I've got to pick up a T-40 one of these days.

Dream Theater: 'Erotomania' is a personal favorite, a pretty fun and relatively varied heavy rock line. It's nice because it has some cool meter changes. It starts with a repeating line moving from three bars of 5/4 to one bar of 9/8. It then moves into 3/4, if recall - been a bit since I've sat down to count it. It's got a couple of key changes too, so it'll really keep you on your toes.
Led Zeppelin: 'The Ocean', 'Black Dog', and 'The Crunge', because everyone needs to know them. Well, maybe not 'The Crunge', but it's such a fun line, and it's in 6/8, which I enjoy. 'The Ocean' in particular is one that you'll likely be able to jam on with almost anybody.
Speaking of Jamming with people: Cream's recording of 'Crossroads' has a good line. Lot's of 16th notes, and lots of fun.
If you're after a cool song that is also an exercise, Weather Report's 'River People' is one hell of a 16th note octave workout.
Finally, Jeff Berlin's line on 'Joe Frazier' is really cool, although not nearly as challenging as a couple of other things on this list.
so yeah, that's a good little bit of stuff to keep you busy, if you bother with any of it (seriously, learn The Ocean - it's fun). |
