As in you walk up to a bass guitar that is mounted horizontally?

Like this, but for a bass?

Gracie Conventional Acoustic Guitar Stand

Invented by Alex Lifeson of Rush and marketed as "The Omega Concern", then later simply, "The Omega Stand".

Just make one like Pat Metheny did in the '70s! Much less expensive and adjustable.

Interesting. Although I don't know if I'd want to be "C"-clamping my expensive guitar! That's sure to leave some marks!

But a build shouldn't be too bad. Just start with a nice double-braced cymbal stands... like say Gibralter. They'll hold up about anything. Mount a Tom arm on it to get some angle adjustment. They are made to hold weight too. If you want lighter try some Yamaha single braced stands, but single braced stands tend to get wobbly over time though they are much lighter weight.
