Bass stands

I'm usually take two basses to gigs. I'm trying to downsize the amount of gear I bring to gigs. So, instead of bringing two stands, I've toyed with either getting smaller light stands, or the Fender brief case stand, or the Warwick stand that holds five basses.

I'm curious to here other peoples opinions on what they use.

I sometimes bring two. You can get just a double stand that doesn't take up any more space than a single. The basses sit back-to-back.

The Hercules double and triple stands are great- the have a latching headstock grip and fold down to a very small size. The only problem with them is that if your bass is long (like a 35" five-string), the bottom of the bass will hit the stand leg instead of the back support. It also won't hold a seven-string neck width, but that's a non-issue for most people.

I saw the Hercules stands on Musicians Friend website. That site also has an interesting stand/case that doubles as a tool box. As innovative as it is, it goes against my downsizing.

Thanks for the input.

No problem, although I'm not sure how the Hercules stand would go against your idea of downsizing- it's light and folds up smaller than any double stand I've seen.

I screwed guitar hangers right to my 8x10 cab. One in the front and one on the side. I've never had a bass knocked over by my crazy singer.
This of course only works if you have an 8x10 or a stack that is tall enough.

I like the Warwick stand. Folds flat and I sling it over my shoulder and carry other gear.

I own a Hercules double stand and have never had a problem with my 35" scale basses (Roscoe, Skjold). It folds down into an easy to carry object that has no additional parts. For me, it's another piece of "won't part with" and "would quickly replace" gear.

You're lucky- my 35" Elricks always hit the leg, and a 35" Spector I put in one hit the leg as well.

The $8 musician's friend stands are good enough for me. If you have a crowded stage, it's easier to bring separate stands for each instrument than a multi-guitar stand. Separate stands provide more configuration options.
