If viewed from the end of the string, looking lengthwise from the bridge to the nut, you would see that the movement of the various segments of the string would form a perfect circle. All in less than a half second. Back in the 50's they took a few dozen still shots at high speed from the end of a vibrating string and overlayed the negatives, forming a single picture. The movements of the string looked like the spokes of a bicycle wheel. Fascinating isn't it.
