just wondering what everyone drives. Also what kinda sound system you have in the vehicle.

Does your bass playing influence your choice in vehicle, do you build a nice sound system in the car do to your love for music.

I personally drive a 98' Jeep Grand Cherokee that was bought for a few reasons, I loved offroading, I wantedto build a vehicle that was different from all the lifted f-150s and chevys around. I needed something to haul my bass gear and my mountain bike and my snowboard in the winter.

i dont have a car, but my drummer and i drive around in a Clio 1.2.

its alright, we can just about fit in:

kit, cymbals, two guitars and my amp

I have a 99 Eclipse Spyder. I can hardly fit half my gear in it, haha. Which is why I"m thinking of selling it. But I have a pretty nice system in it. Or at least as big of a system as I can fit in it. I definitely need bass to enjoy music.

gets my Trace 4x10 + head in the boot with the seats and parcel shelf in place.
also takes one PA speaker on the back seat + stands, mic/lead bag.
rubbish Ford keycode stereo (at least it'll never get stolen)

I've got until the end of october when the MOT and tax run out to get another car. that's if it doesn't disintegrate from rusting first.

I'm looking for a 95'-onwards Ford escort to replace it- cheap, anonymous and readily available cheap spares- all I need in a car.

I got my daily driver which doubles as a gig mobile when i don't need to bring a lot. It's an 84 Chevy Impala-bone stock. I have a CD player for it, but i haven't gotten it installed yet. I figure-once i get the upright bass stuff i want along w/some extra things for college, i'll work on saving some money for that. I can fit an upright bass in the back seat if i have the front [bench] seat all the way up. On the floor w/the upright on the seat, i can fit 2-3 bass guitars in hardshells. The truck is where i stick my rack and 1X15, if worst comes to worst and i can't fit the 2X10 in the trunk w/the 15 and rack, i just stick it in the front seat with me. Overall-it can hold everything, a bit cramped, but it can hold everything.

When i want to drive in a bit more comfort or i have even more gear to haul, i've got an 85 Chevy G20 Cargo Van. That thing is huuuuugggggeeeeeeeeee. I can fit all the gear [haven't tried it w/a PA yet] for a band w/2 guitars [w/half stacks], drum set+cymbals and hardware, my bass rig [rack+2X10 & 1X15] and still have room left over. However, it does suck gas very badly. It doesn't have a stereo in it. It doesn't even have a cig lighter [the place in the dash for it is covered w/a plastic thingy]. That's all

97 Ford Expedition. I have never been able to justify hauling gear with anything smaller than a truck. In fact, I have never had a car (sedan). I have a nice Alpine system with a sub. I put in all I could fit into the truck without major surgery and am very happy with it. I have a color-matched 5X8 box trailer to haul even more gear when the interior is full.

2003 Ford F-150 XLT Super Cab fully loaded with all options! Matching Leer shell with carpet kit/liner in the bed. I can fit anything I need in this rig and it rolls like butter down the fwy with the Triton V-8.

93 Chev fullsize x-cab shortbox 4wd (can't let the snow stop me from gigging). The truck is a nice charcoal gray color, but it hasn't been washed in 9 months. Also, I put a dorky white canopy on it, so rain won't get to my music gear.

It won't win any awards for being loud but it sure sounds nice.

'04 Sierra 1500 extended cab, short bed. I also had the class 3 hitch with heavy duty lighting attachments installed at the dealership. It's so new, I just turned over 1k on the odometer

I am currently thinkg of designing a SQ system for it. I've never been a fan of SPL systems.

Can't fit the cab in the trunk, so that goes in the back seat, and the amp and bass(es) go in the trunk.

And I can still fit 4 people if needed.

I'm on my 2nd one, the 1st was an '88 honda civic wagovan, now it's a 2000 saturn. do i look cool? no! can i fit all of my gear in the car? hell yeah! and the kids? yeppers. at the same time? uh huh........heck, a few days ago i put an entire "this end up" brand bunk bed set in the car no prob

i just bought a volvo 850.

theres a good amount of trunk space. i could probably get one of my mesa cabs in there and a cased bass. havent tried it yet though.

i was just about to start a thread about car audio because i know nothing about it. i only have a cassette player in the 850 and i definitely want a CD player or maybe something i could hook my iPod up to. i dont want like huge subs or any of that stuff, just something that sounds clean at medium volumes. do i need just a head unit or do i also need new speakers or what....suggesstions?

98 Ford Ranger XLT Std cab 5 spd 2.5L fitted w/ARE hard cover over the bed - lockable, with optional sport rack. Hauls a LOT of gear (extra heavy duty hi-rise shocks and oversized tires on stock 15" alloy rims. Factory AM'FM cassette jacked into 400 watt Kenwood 4chn amp (really it's 60 watts RMS per channel) and Polk 2 ways all around. Not the Mexican Polks; the ones from U. S. of A. I want to drop in a stroked 2.3L turbo 4 cyl out of a late 80's T-Bird Turbo Coupe with about 50lbs of Nitrous dry-injected 2 stage and a whole new exhaust - looking for an engine anybody got one to sell?

also a '97 Jeep ZJ 4L inline it already has a K&N FIPK and 62MM TB in 3 days it gets a Banks header + Random high-flow cat + high-flow muffler

2004 Mazda MPV with a decent CD system and a DVD player with the screen that flips out from the ceiling and wireless headphones. It holds all of my gear.

2002 Holden ASTRA 2-door. Man, I didn't even reseach the size specs of my Eden 8+ 10 before I bought it........... Could have ended in tears when the speaker box arrived and it didn't fit in the car...... I would have looked liked the royal 'squeezer'!!

Just a pioneer CD player with factory speakers..... Really... that all one needs, unless one wants to go deaf.

1995 Subaru Legacy Wagon here.

Additional pluses:
You can fit almost as much stuff into the wagon as some SUVs and use a fraction of the gas.
Station wagons are not nearly the cop magnets that other cars are.

I have stock stereo system, with 2 blown speakers. Doesn't matter much since I'm usually listening to NPR.

+1 to the stocker/blown speaks/NPR, and I drive a couple of Subie wagons (96, 88) as well.

Since I do audio repairs, people always are amazed to see nothing but bare wires where the stereo should be in my old 86 Toyota van. That's a great gig rig; plenty of room to rack out afterwards, and 25-28 mpg to boot. Since it sits for long periods, a nice stereo would just be a liability.
