| | Yeah, I've got the moves like Jagger. | | Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: G.R. MI | | | Meh. All musicians have major personality flaws. That's why they're so fun to mess with!
My drummer once replied to a guitar player that called him arrogant (and rightly so): "Self confidence is often mistaken for arrogance by insecure people." Now that my friend, is arrogant!

I'm just saying that in the little time I've been here, I've noticed alot of double standards, and also, rules for being a good bassist.
That's all I'm saying.
I like the forum, I really do. |

I mean, in my eyes, simpler forms of music are just not welcome here. | Really? I just don't see it but hey, you are welcome to your opinion. |

The people whom I'm speaking of are the ones who completely dismiss bassists and genres and the types who adhere to "you must be a jazz wanker to be good." |

However, I have seen over the years a lot of trolls try to stir things up. They don't last long though... |

Step 2: state your own opinion
Step 3: complete. You are now a hypocrite

Some are vain, and try to make others feel that they are in some way smarter, more talented, or better. In this way, I agree with the original post. There's a lot of this on Talkbass. Snooty, childlike, holier-than-thou posts that are basically worthless. These posts are worse on the internet because people tend to lose tact and respect when not interacting one-on-one. But then again, it's like this on every forum.
I like Talkbass because its a great tool for sharing ideas about equipment and a collective passion about music, and especially our instrument of choice. I'll always come here for information, but have little tolerance for some of the attitudes. That aside, I've laughed my butt off a times at some of the humor here.
To sum it all up, a fellow bassist once said, "animals should not try to act like people."

I admit I haven't been on TB much in the last few months since the NFL season ended and I just don't play bass that much anymore, but on the whole I've always found the TB community to be much more accepting of variety of people, music and ability than the guitar forums I frequent.
