I have a drum set. It was acually a gift my dad got for christmas a few years ago. He said he's wanted to play since he was a kid but never got the chance. So my mom bought him one of those cheap Walmart First ACt kits. He put it toegether and hardly ever palyed it . I played it everyday jsut messing around. I started asking drummers about tuing drums and all that. I have the kit sounding really good. My band uses it right now until our real drummer finally gets his own kit. The only thing is that the Cymbals are all curved and everything.

I started on drums WAY backinnaday. Unfortunatley, I don't have photos of my set, but it is/was a Pearl Export w/chrome finish (think Bonham '77-'80). I removed the 13" tom and added an 18" floor tom. Cymbals of choice were Paise Signature series...with the odd Zildjian thrown in.

I've been getting more and more into electronic percussion as a result of my interest in synths, and lack of independance on a traditional drumkit. I've been using these crazy kick drum synths from Germany from a company called JoMox. They make mostly analog drum machines like the older Roland stuff that's ubiquious in techno and electronic dance music, but with a wider range of control and better sound quality. You can even send MIDI note information to them and get these huge sine waves that are the most powerful bass I've been able to produce, and you can use them melodicly. It would put an F# string to shame. I use some Roland V-Drum triggers with some drum sticks to control them. I've been saving up for this crazy drum pad controller called the Mandala from a company out of southern California called Synestasia. It's the same guy that developed the infared D-Beam controllers for Rolands keyboard line. He's been developing them over the last five years with help from Danny Carey, who plays drums in the band Tool. I'm really looking forward to getting a chance to use some of the stuff in a live setting.

I started on drums too - over twenty years ago now.....ahhhhh. Any way I recently picked up a Roland TD6KV which I love and sits in my music room a treat. I was a drummer for years in bands then switched to bass, then back again, then back again. I guess they are linked - lots of great bass players and pianists started off on drums.

Its packed away till I build my soundroom in the garage. I just started playing Bass about 7 months ago.
