I started off on guitar a long time ago, and I still have the majority of my guitar equipment. I love to play it!

I do prefer/feel more comfortable on bass though.

I started with drums at 11 quit and switched to bass at 15. Never looked back. Never ever was interested in playing guitar. I have been a bass player all of my life. Bass is it for me.

Good point. I may just end up plugging my bass into a crappy little guitar amp I have and just playing it at low level through that.

I'll play any instrument available to join and hopefully enhance whatever's going on. But bass is and has always been the most comforting and comfortable for me.

I own two guitars that almost never get played, because I'm so lousy at guitar. Bass is definitely my numero uno. But having said that, I seem to spend more time on keys than bass at home.

I took my bass playing as far as I wanted to go. I don't aspire to be Jacco but I did have a goal and reached it. Went looking for a guitar / keyboard player for a band and realized that combination was rare. So I decided to brush off the guitar skills and learn keys. I haven't touched my bass in about a month except to play at chruch and that doesn't take too much as I've been playing those songs for years.

If I was equally good at playing any instrument, I'd still play the bass. I love everything about it, the tone, the role, and I love to feel the vibrations coming from the amp. It makes me happy.

I don't think there is really a dichotomy of "bassists who love bass above any other instrument" vs "failed guitarist/drummer/whatnot who had to pick bass or starve... but still hates the bass", if that makes any sense.

But I'd suspect that most members here relate to the first category. I know I do. That being said, I wouldn't mind taking the guitar once again while still playing bas as my main instrument.

I think all musicians enjoy 'playing' other instruments a little. But most people play what they love most the most.

Bass sounds 'special'. Kinda like a good drummer that tickles you with the groove... there's a feel with a bass . . . even when you just tune up - you know the groove is on it's way. It can come from other instruments but bass is it.

I haven't tried DB yet but I know the resonance and other factors may only intensify my love for the low end
