Hi, everyone! I was planning to buy a bass from BassPalace but their site has disappeared. Anybody know anything about them?
Sorry, if that Thread is on the wrong place!

Bass Palace

I am going to the Pa Gtr Show this weekend and I hope to see him there... I have done business with him on several occasions and he is a good guy to deal with ...
good used gear at a very fair price....
if he is there I will let him know there are folks out in cyberspace looking for him....

That's bass place, he's talking about bass palace. I have the web address at home, I'll stick it up later. The site was working a few weeks ago.

But is it current? If you Google bass palace, you'll find a link to his stuff, but I don't know how current it is.

Nothing comes up for me. http://basspalace.com/basses/ Even people on The Dude Pit are talking about it. I loved shopping on that site.
I bought my '78 Fretless P-bass there.

I have the link http://www.basspalace.com/dynamic/justinlist bookmarked. Doesn't seem to be working now. Shame, I often tried to buy from Bob but never quite managed it, used to love checking out his new gear

He's alive and well on eBay as "thehyn". Don't know about the store, mostly he's selling vintage parts.

Bass Palace

I am very sorry to report ...

I went to the Guitar Show this past weekend (which is now in Reading Pa )

and there was no sign of Bass Palace or Bob..

I have been attending the guitar shows for the past tens years religiously and he always had a great display of many different basses and amps and was always fair in his pricing..
plus a real good guy to chat with..

I see the post with his ebay tag so I will check it out..

I dont know if the shop is still open for business...

but I hope " The Swami " is well !!

When I lived in Scranton I would have to say that bass Palace was the best thing they had going.

I believe Bobs been having problems with the City of Scranton and his building.. There was an issue there and they are keeping him from doing retail sales... I ran into a mutual friend of his and mine a few weeks ago and this is what I was told... If somebody knows more than I, please correct me if I'm wrong..

Hopefully he'll be able to work something out. He must still have dozens of (cool) basses in his possession.

I'm surprised Big Joe has not chimed in as I believe he is pretty tight with Bob...

I don't know if this has anything to do with his predicament, but when I was living in PA several people told me that the state has bizarre zoning laws.

I haven't been in touch with Bob in some time. When I started the building process of my house (which included extra over time and per diem work), my bass playing and all it entailed (lots of shopping around) was on hold up until very recently. Even before that the shop wasn't open at any time I could get there short of taking a half day from work.

I don't have his cell phone number anymore and it appears the shop phone is out of service. As we all know, the website is now down too. You used to be able to access it by adding /basses to the direct link but even that is out.

I've been playing phone tag with Bernie over the last few months so I haven't been in real contact with him either. I'm not sure if he has talked to Bob lately of not.

I'm not sure if it is the buiding or not but it wouldn't surprise me at all. Every time he fixed something, it seemed the repair would turn up something else broken or break something in the process. At one point there was a sidewalk subsidance next to the building.

Bob is kind of an odd fellow which is part of his charm. I miss him quite a bit and hope he gets it all together. His basses were usually worth the wait.

I don't know much about zoning laws, but lots of Pennsylvania law is bizarre, so I wouldn't be surprised. An attorney licensed in just about any other state would have a serious learning curve adapting to some aspects of Pennsylvania practice.

I missed Bass Palace at the show this year too. My band's drummer is from Scranton and has lots of connections in the music biz up there, so I'll see if I can learn something.
