I am going to have to order the Cream BBC sessions I listened to a few samples from amazon and it sounds great. I've neglected listening to classic rock regularly for years now time to get back into what I grew up listening to.
Edit: Just noticed a david bowie BBC Session on amazon. Anyone have this? The bowie songs I've heard on the classic rock station I've always liked Changes, Man who sold the world, ziggy stardust. But don't have anymore exposure than that really. I noticed a used one on there for approx 15 bucks. I've listened to a few other samples from there but they're not really long enough for me to make much of an opionon on? For those of you who like his work would this be a good collection to pick up? |
Bowie at the Beeb is a good set. I'm not too fond of the first disc, but the second disc has great takes of some of his Ziggy Stardust era stuff. I believe it was Trevor Boulder on bass at that time (Tony Visconti earlier) and he's got some great lines and great tone. It's definitely worth it.
Of the three BBC sets I have (Bowie, Zep, and Hendrix), I can say of all of them that these are prime "recordings." For the style of music, the raw-but-clean sound they pull off is how they should've been recorded for the albums.
