The zep BBC sessions are really good. Too many versions of communication breakdown IMO but oh well. The versions of How many more times, Since I've been Loving You, and especially Thank You are brilliant.

I am going to have to order the Cream BBC sessions I listened to a few samples from amazon and it sounds great. I've neglected listening to classic rock regularly for years now time to get back into what I grew up listening to.

Edit: Just noticed a david bowie BBC Session on amazon. Anyone have this? The bowie songs I've heard on the classic rock station I've always liked Changes, Man who sold the world, ziggy stardust. But don't have anymore exposure than that really. I noticed a used one on there for approx 15 bucks. I've listened to a few other samples from there but they're not really long enough for me to make much of an opionon on? For those of you who like his work would this be a good collection to pick up?

There's a guy in Australia called Graeme Pattingdale who has done the most incredible (and unofficial) re-mastering job on the Cream BBC sessions, plus an astonishing list of other obscure Cream performances/recordings/demos. You can see the whole list (20 CDs worth) on this bittorrent forum:

http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...hp/t-7106.html

According to all reports, Graeme's re-mastered versions of the BBC sessions are a huge sonic improvement on the official releases.

Sadly, Graeme's own website, through which it used to possible to order the discs, has gone offline. If anyone finds him again, do let me know!

I have the Napalm Death "Complete Sessions" disc. You can trace their musical development, from getting 4 25 second "tunes" into one track in 1989 to full length songs in the mid 90s. Good stuff.

Bowie at the Beeb is a good set. I'm not too fond of the first disc, but the second disc has great takes of some of his Ziggy Stardust era stuff. I believe it was Trevor Boulder on bass at that time (Tony Visconti earlier) and he's got some great lines and great tone. It's definitely worth it.

Of the three BBC sets I have (Bowie, Zep, and Hendrix), I can say of all of them that these are prime "recordings." For the style of music, the raw-but-clean sound they pull off is how they should've been recorded for the albums.

Graeme Pattingale's CREAM sessions - website found!

In a previous post, I mentioned the incredible mass of Cream recordings currently in the possesion of an Australian guy called Graeme Pattingale.

I'm delighted to report that his website has re-appeared at:
http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cream/

Go take a look, and be slack-jawed with amazement at what he's got available, the depth of his knowledge about the band's activities, and his honest opinion of the official BBC sessions CDs.
