It's all about money, and I have no doubt that a huge amount is/will be exchanged.

I d.j. and rely on i tunes to download songs that I don't have on the fly. It will be very nice to have the Beatles songs at my disposal. I have had many requests for them and don't have all of them in my library. Plus I am an early Beatles fan. Good job itunes.

About damn time.

I don't understand the hold up, maybe someone can enlighten us, but The Beatles and their holdings only make money when their music is downloaded.

If that's true, and unless I'm missing something, they have screwed themselves out of many years worth of download revenue.

Were they waiting for the percentage to go high enough, or what?

part of The Beatles record company (Apple) and the owners of iTunes (Apple, Inc.) had a strong dissagreement about the use of the name Apple, so it went on, and 20 some years later, they are finally on iTunes.

Who would pay good money for the quality of an MP3? It's WAV or nothing for me.

I'm pretty sure Napster offers a higher quality download.

Did Napster get permission as well? No "Apple" conflict there.

I envy your golden ears! I've been listening to the 30sec samples, and to me they sound terrific. I've bought a couple of tracks so far.

The iTunes file format is AAC, right? Purportedly better than mp3, but still "lossy".

To my more pedestrian ears, there's about 1000% more difference in sound quality between the early Beatles recordings and the late ones than between AAC and wav.

Don't get me wrong though, if you hear the degradation of AAC compression from wav files, that's a great testament to your hearing and audio discrimination. At 50, I'm sure 78 rpm records would be sufficient for me. :^D lol

Buying Beatles songs and not full albums is just plain wrong.

Getting any song and not a full album is wrong and, frankly, for plebs.

But anyhow, yeah, they're finally on iTunes. Whoop-dee-doo. They've been on Mediafire for years, so whatever, man.

I think it's cool, but not nearly as jaw-dropping as their homepage made it out to be (Tomorrow is just like any day. One you will never forget).

I don't think you're alone, this seems to be a widespread sentiment.

I'm actually not being facetious with this question to you folks who feel that way: Is it a bit like buying excerpts from the bible -- cherry picking the bits that you like, and leaving out the stuff you find boring?? I.e., kind of sacrilegious?

Halle-freakin-lujah!

I've been waiting forever for this to happen too. I've slowly phased out buying CDs over the years, and against my initial reaction to downloads way back when, actually like the portability and space-saving aspect of them now. With 400+ records, 400+ cassettes, and about 1200+ CDs taking up too much space in my house, and I really did not want to have to fork out $100+ for CDs of those newly remastered recordings.

I don't use iTunes...is a single still .99 cents? I just heard that they raised their price, and Beatles tracks are even more.

I'm betting The Beatles organization was holding out for more money, not a 20 year dispute over a silly apple logo.

Most tracks are $1.29 now (at least in Canada, but I think it's the same, State-side). Some older or less popular stuff is still .99.

There must have been some compromise, after such a long negotiation! But the tracks cost the same $1.29 as most popular music.
