The Beatles: Rock Band

Anybody seen this?

Intro - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSLLxRmR3nY

Outro - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGzfhcnrB7Q

In Game Footage - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JOaMf2t3pE

Those clips make it look absolutely fantastic. If I weren't so anti-Rock Band/Guitar Hero, I'd buy this. If only for the Hofner controller!

Having seen these movies and how the Beatles image lends itself to animation (especially from Pepper onwards), I can't wait for this new Yellow Submarine movie to come out.

I know it's just a game controller but seeing that "bass" with a tremolo arm just seems wrong.

Yeah, agreed about the trem arm. I've seen the controller in person, and it's not far off the size of a regular Hofner!

I ordered it the first day it came out (9/09/09).
Cool game!

I've always been a big fan of RockBand and of the Beatles.

I want that game so bad..
lol, me and my boyfriend didn't notice the tremolo on the bass when we were looking at the box at the store...you'd think we'd pick up on that seeing we both play bass and him guitar as well, but I guess we were too tired to notice.
Perhaps its for the ones who want to play the guitard part of it? They can use the bass for a guitar on the game? IDK

In previous Rock Band games, the use of the whammy bar would alter
the actual audio of a song allowing you to add a personal touch to it.
Given the nature of the music included in The Beatles: Rock Band, and
the need to stay true to the source material, the whammy bar does not
alter the actual songs this time around.

Great game. I've spent a ton of time with it over this last week.

Just finished the "story" mode playing only bass and was consistently getting 97% on expert (sometimes more, sometimes less... 2 songs at 100% so far). Does that mean that I'm 97% the bassist that Paul is?

I went to a lock-in at my church and they had this. My brother, who loves the Beatles more than life itself, was overjoyed. He hogged the microphone for 8 HOURS STRAIGHT while I played dodgeball. I'd come in for a Dr. Pepper or something, and he'd still be there, wailing "I am the Eggman, I am the EGGMAN, I AM THE WALRUS, COO COO GAJOOB!!!" or something along those lines, totally butchering songs.
We now refer to him as the Rock Band Nazi.

I used to play Guitar Hero a lot when I was younger, but now I'm a lot more into real instruments. But, in no way am I anti-music game. I think it's cool how you can jam with your friends even if you/they don't know the real instrument at all. I haven't gotten to play The Beatles Rock Band yet, but I'm looking forward to renting and maybe purchasing it. I did however invest in the George Harrison Replica yesterday, only because if you want the Paul McCartney you have to spend $250 on the whole band kit.

I agree, I used to play Guitar Hero before I picked up the bass and I was really good at the game. Now I SUCK at the game, something about playing chromatically perhaps? I always have a hurt ego after trying to play rock band that I race to my bass to redeem myself...

Which version?

If you could buy any of the three versions (Wii, PS3, XBox), which would you buy? I understand the versions are slightly different and, not being a gamer, I don't own a game machine (yet).

Wow - it's sounding like a Marketing Man's dream!!

So not only do people buy a whole new console just to get it - but I have seen you can also pay big money to play a big plastic thing shaped like a Rickenbacker,Gretsch etc.

This franchise must be like a licence to print money!!

My girlfriend purchased a Wii with the main intent to use Wii Fit. She's been using it on a pretty regular basis, so if it helps her get in shape, I suppose it was a good investment.

I haven't bought a console since the first Playstation (which I got used). I enjoy video games, but I really haven't had the time to play them like I use to. Work, gigs, grad school, and all that kind of get in the way. I love reliving my frustration with crappy games, though, by watching The Angry Video Game Nerd.

I played Guitar Hero before and didn't much care for it.

i used to play guitar hero quite a bit before i picked up the bass again (infact that's what lead me back to it) and one thing that imediatley struck me about this game when i heard it was coming out was: most die-hard guitar hero players do (inherently) think of it as another game (regardless of whether they get delusions of granduer and think they can also play guitar) and therefore the aim is to beat the game-increase the difficulty-get as many points as you can. in that order. with an all beatles set list where is the difficulty? the beatles never really wrote anything that "shread" worthy and i'd think that hardcore guitardheroes would get bored of it pretty quick.

I'd love to see someone nail the bass line of "Something" or maybe the drums of "A Day In the Life". The Beatles were deceptively complex in their later years. Don't worry, I'm sure there's plenty of challenge for your typical shred-head...

The creators of the game said it was not a game for people who are shred crazy. Just fans of The Beatles, not really anyone and everyone who plays the game.

Am I the only one that finds that to be utterly ridiculous?

Very true and certainly no different from the other versions of the game, modeled on the same business plan (Metallica, Aerosmith, whoever) although I'm willing to bet far more successful as there are undoubtedly many more Beatles fans than fans of the above.

The question remains: the three versions are subtly different so, given the opportunity, which would you buy? I'm leaning towards the Wii with PS3 a close second - the Xbox version would have to be significantly better for me to give M$ any more dough than they've already extracted from me in the IT realm...

Well the PS3 has HD capability and plays Blu Ray discs - the graphics on PS3 are going to be better if a you have an HD-Ready TV..?
