Being thanked in the liner notes of a cd, Or was I ???

So I went to the bar on Sat night for my best friends Birthday. He had some bands playing there. One of the bands were using the night to make it their CD release party. I had played with the band a few times at their practices and used to be in a band with two of the members many years ago. In my eyes I was never a member. And I told them ahead of time I would come just to fill in, hang out, catch up and drink some beer.

Well at the end of the night the bass player comes up to me and says he thanked me in the disc. I found this very strange since we were not friends really. So when I read what he wrote he said " I want to thank Troy for giving up his space in the band" or something to that effect.

I'm not sure how I should take that. To me he did not come of like I was a jerk and abandoned them freeing up the bass spot, but why would he even mention that. It was really weird. Not sure how to take that. Will the people reading this in the liners think I'm a jerk??

Eh, doesn't sound too awful to me. I wouldn't worry about it.

And if there's a problem, you could always say "must've been some other Troy".

I think it was harmless and probably genuine on his part.

Hi.

Sounds like a honest compliment to me. He was glad that he got the chance and wanted to have it printed on the sleeve.

You have to ask yourself: Would a guitarist have done that for another (unknown to him) guitarist? Most probably not.

Ok, cool seems like it was more of a compliment than something backhanded.
